North on Myrtle Avenue

This is an awesome picture - it's not mine. I'm glad someone feels compelled to capture shots of Monrovia, cause I think it's a beautiful city too.

I usually run with my students on Saturday mornings. But we decided that for Thanksgiving weekend, all the coaches, teachers and students should take a rest from the pack and run on their own.

So, I decided to run from my house to Old Town Monrovia, North on Peck Rd. until it became Myrtle Ave., until my Garmin measured about 8 to 9 miles.

What a noisy run.

It was early in the morning but I could hear every bus, every car. Every moving thing coming to a stop at every red light and raring to go at every green. Sidewalks came to an abrupt end every so often ... I think I ran faster for fear of getting hit by the car or by debris. There was exhaust and dust everywhere.

But I loved it. I loved how unexpected and difficult the route was. I loved reaching Monrovia.
